What God Expects From You

Today’s sermon had an interesting little nugget in it.

Pastor Mark spoke related an anecdote wherein Billy Graham took his ministry workers aside and told them that he was certain that their rewards in Heaven would be greater than his. They all rolled their eyes, sorta wrote it off as false humility, and said, “Sure, sure, Billy.” So Billy got all stern&fatherly and sat them down and said, “Look. God does not require you to be fruitful, but He does require you to be faithful.”

I brought it back to this battle: God does not insist that I never have another inappropriate sexual thought or deed. God does not require perfection of me. God does not require ANYTHING of me other than I show up, stay in relationship, and stay faithful to Him and to the task at hand every single day. There is no shame in fighting and losing; there IS shame in giving up.

No deep analysis needed. Just a truth to give you some peace today.

  1. WOW! What a simple but powerful truth! Yeah, and even when we make mistakes, He is faithful and just to forgive us. What a wonderful Saviour!
