“But…But…It’s COOL to be Gay Now…!”

The Pentagon, at one time, seriously considered building a “gay bomb” to make soldiers gay and more interested in having sex with each other than with fighting and choosing to kill the enemy.

They’re willing to let go of gay Arabic translators, which are badly needed right now, but they’re willing to create a “gay bomb.”

Posted here for all those who think gay people are really cool and don’t ever receive public scorn, discrimination, or abuse.

  1. It’s nice to find an ex-gay proponent who doesn’t just pay lip-service to the discrimination and hatred that gay men and women have received over the years. I’m assuming that you’re anti-DADT? Thanks for standing up for what’s right, FG, even if it’s not that PC.

  2. And rabidly so. We don’t have troops to spare. Period. Let alone the fact that we’re getting rid of arabic translators, who are so rare and so vitally needed right now. I’ve heard arguments that if we “allow homosexuals in the military, then we’re embracing their sin and bringing defeat, because God will not tolerate homosexuality.” Apparently God will tolerate adultery, lying, cursing, murder, torture, rape, but it’s that butt sex thing that makes him nuts.

We gotta start realizing that we’re all sinners in need of a savior, and that no sin is greater or lesser than another. We all need hope, we all need life, we all need to be forgiven. Jesus is a savior in whom we have infinite worth. We bear his image. It’s time to cut the officially sanctioned hatred and realize the worth of these people who are gifted and motivated to serve, even under these conditions.

  3. I want to be careful how I say this because my church means so much to me. It would be good if more churches would treat those of us struggling with SSA the way they treat those with other sexual sins. I have been encouraged to keep quiet about my struggles, but I have heard many public testimonies at church from Christians who repented of heterosexual pre-marital sex and adultery.

  4. MR: Obviously you can’t go against your church leadership on this, and I’m not even close to recommending same, but how do you think you’d be received if you ever told them your situation?

  5. You said, “They’re willing to let go of gay Arabic translators, which are badly needed right now…” Why are GAY Arabic translators needed right now? I can understand why ANY kind of Arabic translators are needed, buy why specifically GAY ones?

  6. Rik: I wasn’t clear. With such a shortage of ANY arabic translators right now, why are they kicking ANY of them out, let alone just for being gay? With such a critical shortage, we need to keep them around.

  7. http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/05/23/america/NA-GEN-US-Military-Gays.php

58 transltors so far. This directly affects national security, since these men and women are on the front lines of information assessmen for the war.

  8. A gay bomb? That’s crazy! If that’s the sort of thing on the mind of those at the Pentagon, it’s no wonder we’ve had little succes at any war we’ve been involved in since WWII. You’d think they’d finally get real for a change and get serious.

    Hope you’re doing well, FG.

  9. It’s insulting, is what it is. It says that gays are incapable of getting along with straight people and straight people are incapable of fighting along side someone that is different than they are. And anyone who has seen a bunch of gay men at a 50% off sale at Pottery Barn KNOWS how well gay men can fight. (I can’t believe I just typed that.)

Considering the shameful number of female troops who have to manage their fluid intake so they don’t go to the porta potty alone and unprotected for fear of being raped by another soldier, maybe that intolerance is still a significant factor despite the 70% of polled military personnel who could care less about a soldier’s sexual orientation.

  10. “…anyone who has seen a bunch of gay men at a 50% off sale at Pottery Barn KNOWS how well gay men can fight.”

    That’s priceless! 🙂

I think you’re right. It is insulting, and you’re analysis is probably 100% accurate as to the mindset of those who’d think up such a thing.

  11. Regarding the need for “Gay Arabic translators” I knew what you meant. I just thought it was funny the way it sounded 🙂
