A Personal Prayer Request

Today is the day they decide whether or not I’m going home, or going to a nursing home to spend another month in substandard care and therapy.  I’m trying to make a compelling argument against the nursing home and for sending me back to my apartment.  Honestly?  I don’t know if I have it in me to spend another month in a nursing home.  I want to get back to my life.  I can rest and recover at home just as easily as I can there.  PT and OT specialists can come in to visit.

I was more than a year recovering from the fear that ruled my life from the last visit.  I don’t want to repeat that experience.

I want to be able to say “Lord, your will be done” but I’m not there yet this morning.  I’ll keep this updated as the day wears on.

Thanks for your prayers.  I covet them.

UPDATE:  Worst possible news:  two months in a nursing home.  Possibly three.  Jesus, help me.

UPDATE II:  Wait.  There’s hope after all.  Apparently my PT and OT didn’t attend rounds this monrning to represent and nobody knew just how far I’ve come in terms of getting independent and non-weight-bearing.  I need ONE piece of adaptive equipment for home and I’m good to go.  (On the downside, I might have to wear nightshirts at home all the time, but considering how lazy I am, I’m not entirely certain this is a downside.)  Furthermore, I discovered that the outside limit of the stay was to be possibly FIVE months at the nursing home, so there’s a lot at stake in terms of getting this equipment, so your continued prayers for Brad’s success will be most appreciated.

UPDATE III:  Now we’re looking at Tuesday-Wednesday of next week due to delays in getting the demo model of the commode they want to order for me.  Keep it up at this rate and by the time we get all the pieces together, my leg will be as good as new.  And for an x-ray that looks like they painted my leg with glue and rolled it in screws and nuts and bolts, that’s saying something.  Watch this post for further updates.

  1. I will be praying. Hopefully they have a land line that can receive calls so you won’t have to use cell minutes.
