Dear God.

Statistic read tonight that stopped me in my tracks:  a gay man or woman is murdered somewhere in this country on the average of once every 8 days.

Nothing like a little dramatic renewal of purpose right before bedtime.

  1. Wow!! 😦

  2. I’m not sure why you posted this or where you got your statistics. But you have to be careful how statistics are used. For example, if on average there are 80 people killed every 8 days and someone assumes that 10% of the population is gay, they would then report that a homosexual is murdered every 8 days. Also, was the person killed for BEING a homosexual? Or was their sexual activity incidental to the reason they were murdered? (i.e. they were being robbed etc.) For example, according to his murderers, Matthew Shepherd was killed during a drug deal, not for being gay. Yet he has become a martyr for the pro-gay movement even though he was not murdered for being a homosexual. Also, were they killed by another homosexual, such as their lover? IF so they are not a victim of a “hate crime.” I am not trying to lessen the tragedy of anyone being murdered or take such deaths lightly, but statistics are frequently manipulated to promote a political agendas. For example, if the rape rate in a city is up 80% this year and the rapists have not been caught and the Mayor is running for re-election the mayor can have the statistics reported as “unsolved crimes” rather than as rapes. Or if a small town had no murders one year and then then have one the next year they can report “Murder is up 100%” in order to get tax payers to think that they need more police officers. I could go on and on but I think you get the point.
